1. What exactly is Unser Racing?!

Great question! Unser Racing & Entertainment is a high-speed kart racing facility located in Denver, Colorado. It is partly owned by Johnny Unser, a big name in Indianapolis 500 history. In addition to offering the most authentic, yet safe, kart racing in Denver, we have many other attractions including a Performance Division for serious kart racers, corporate event space, and even a full-service bar, restaurant and game room called the Trackside Tavern! Anything you could ask for in a fun day or night out is all right here at Unser!

2. Where are you located and when are you open?

We are just a simple ten-minute drive north of downtown Denver at the junction of Route 36 and Interstate 25. We are open Mondays through Thursdays from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays, we are open from 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Sundays’ hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Visit our Hours & Directions page for more detailed information.

3. Do I have to be an experienced driver or racer?

Not at all! Unser is great because we cater to drivers of any age and any level. Children as young as 6 years old will be able to race in our youth karts as long as they attend a special training session. Individuals 14 years old and up will go through our adult training. Once you’ve been through at least one of our trainings, you’ll be all set to drop by and race straight away!

4. What type of training is involved?

Youths are required to attend special trainings at designated times throughout the week. You can check out the schedule by clicking here.

Adults are required to attend a 10-minute training upon initial registration. Our dedicated staff will take you through the ins and outs of kart racing, briefing you on track safety, kart operation, flag warnings, and race protocol to ensure safe and friendly fun.

5. What do I have to bring?

Here at Unser, we like to take care of our racers. All you need to bring is a photo ID, a form of payment, and yourself of course! We provide everything else including helmets, head socks, neck braces, race suits, closed-toe shoes, gloves, and even hair ties. If you already have a racing helmet, you are certainly more than welcome to bring it. We just ask that it has eye protection!

6. What can I expect when I’m racing your karts?

Our karts are Honda 270 cc four-stroke engines that go upwards of 45+ mph on the track. They are fitted with one brake and one accelerator pedals as well as a seatbelt and guards to ensure your utmost safety. Our staff will ensure every racer is properly trained and aware of track rules and regulations so all you have to worry about is having fun.

7. How long is a race?

A single race, or “heat” as we call them varies depending on the day you visit us. A typical heat lasts approximately 5 minutes. However, we offer 7 minute heats during our non-peak hours (Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and all day Sunday). Each race will allow for 12-15 laps depending on how fast you’re going. If you’re like most of our customers, one race is never enough. Additional heats can be purchased at either our downstairs or upstairs kiosks.

8. What is the registration process to race?

If you’ve never been to our facility before, all you have to do is fill out a quick profile on the computers in our main lobby, getting you checked into our system. You will be asked to sign a waiver agreeing to our legal terms and conditions, in addition to being asked for photo identification. From there, it’s all up to you. One race or twenty, we offer great deals! Check out our Pricing & Specials pages for information on daily and group discounts.

9. What if I have a lot of people in my group?

The more the merrier! Unfortunately, we do not take reservations on parties with less than 6 people. If you do have a large group, we offer Youth as well as Adult Party Packages that will allow you to reserve spots in advance. If you’d like to book an event, corporate or otherwise, please call our main line (720) 282-5000.

10. What is your Performance Division?

Kart racing is a serious sport. For those already with karts or for those looking to get into karting, our Performance Division is for you. Not only do we have our very own Unser Racing Team that travels to races all over the country, but we also offer kart servicing, transportation, and race day support. Please visit our Performance Division page for more information.

11. What type of corporate events do you host?

Corporations and companies love to host events with Unser. Not only do we offer up a great venue and facility, but our racing formats are the perfect team-building activity. We provide your company with everything you need for a perfect day out including a high-tech conference room, catering services, great race packages, and an Unser event captain to make sure your day goes as smoothly as possible. For more information, please visit our Corporate Events page.

12. What is the Trackside Tavern?

The Trackside Tavern is our brand-spankin’ new full-service bar and restaurant, also equipped with a fantastic game room. Located right next to our race track, you’ll be able to enjoy a slice of pizza or a cold beverage while watching racers zoom by. We offer a great selection of drinks from sodas and coffees to beers and custom cocktails, as well as a great menu with pizza, wings, burgers, fries, and more!

If you have any down time between heat races, shoot some pool at our billiards tables, or try out our bowling alley and ping pong tables.
